Cambiar Investorsn LLC History

Cambiar Investors was incorporated on August 21, 1973 to manage value-oriented equity portfolios for institutional and individual investors. The firm registered with the SEC as an investment advisor in October 1973. In 1990, Cambiar became a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Asset Management/Old Mutual. In July 2001, the senior professionals at Cambiar completed a management buy back from its parent company and now has 100% controlling interest in the firm. Since the firm's inception, the original investment philosophy has been consistently applied, and assets under management have grown steadily.

Brian M. Barish, CFA, President, Director of Research As director of research, Brian oversees Cambiar’s investment research and portfolio management. Brian manages Cambiar’s large institutional accounts, mutual funds, and private client accounts. His primary analytical responsibilities are coverage of the technology and aerospace sectors. Before joining Cambiar in 1997, he was director of emerging markets research for Lazard Freres & Co., a New York based investment bank, where he followed several industries globally. Previously, he was a securities analyst with Bear, Stearns & Co. Brian began his career at Arnhold & S. Bleichroeder, a New York based research firm. He received a BA in Economics and Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley. Ania A. Aldrich, CFA, Vice President Ania’s primary analytical responsibilities at Cambiar are coverage of the financial services and consumer products sectors. She also manages several retail portfolios. Prior to joining Cambiar in 1999, she was a global equity analyst at Bankers Trust, a New York based investment company. Her primary responsibilities at Bankers Trust were coverage of the financial services and transportation sectors. She began her career as an investor relations specialist at BET PLC, a New York based communications firm. Ania holds an MBA in Finance from Fordham University and a BA in Computer Science from Hunter College. Maria L. Azari, CFA, Vice President Maria’s primary analytical responsibilities at Cambiar are coverage of the healthcare and retail sectors. She also manages several retail portfolios. Before joining Cambiar in 1997, she served as an investment analyst for Eaton Vance Management, a Boston based investment company, where she supported and assisted in the management of mutual funds. Maria also has experience in the retail industry. Maria received a BA in Economics and Classics from Brown University. Michael J. Gardner, CFA, Vice President Mike’s primary analytical responsibilities at Cambiar are coverage of the energy and industrial sectors. He also manages smaller institutional accounts and larger tax-sensitive individual accounts. Prior to joining Cambiar in 1995, he was with Simmons & Company International, a Houston based investment bank serving the energy industry. At Simmons, he helped to establish their equity research group, was a merger valuation analyst; and as an investment analyst covered oilfield service and equipment companies. Mike received a BA in Economics and Managerial Studies from Rice University. Edward W. O’Connor, Investment Analyst Ted’s primary analytical responsibilities at Cambiar are coverage of the telecommunications and media sectors. Prior to joining Cambiar in 1999, he worked at Wellington Asset management, a Boston based investment company, and served with the U.S. Department of State in Guatemala and Cuba. Ted earned his MBA from the University of Chicago. Ted received his BA in Economics and Philosophy from Colgate University. Timothy A. Beranek, Investment Analyst Tim’s primary analytical responsibilities are coverage of specialty segments of the technology sector. He is also responsible in assisting the portfolio managers with the execution of investment decisions. Prior to joining Cambiar in 1999, he was with Resources Trust, a subsidiary of American International Group, where he had responsibility for oversight of financial controls for the company’s mutual fund trading relationships. Tim began his career with Merrill Lynch. He holds a BS in Economics from the University of South Dakota. Nancy H. Wigton, Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing and Client Services Nancy directs Cambiar’s client relations and new business development activities. Prior to joining Cambiar in 1994, she was a vice president at Dreman Value Management, a New York based investment advisory firm, where she was responsible for portfolio management, marketing and client services.
