Citizens Advisers, Inc. History

Citizens Advisers, Inc., a New Hampshire corporation, is the investment adviser for Citizens Funds, an open-ended investment company registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940. Citizens Funds presently consists of ten mutual funds and is one of America's largest families of socially responsible investment products. Citizens Advisers was organized in 1982 under the original name of Working Assets Management Company. Sophia Collier acquired the firm in 1991, and has served as the Chair of the Board since that time. Under her leadership, the fund company launched a number of long-term funds in addition to its already established Money Market fund: Citizens Core Growth, Citizens Emerging Growth, Citizens Global Equity, Citizens Income, Citizens Small Cap Core Growth, Citizens International Growth, and Citizens Value funds. At the end of 2002, the Citizens Ultra Short Bond and Citizens Balanced funds were launched. In 2003, Citizens launched Citizens 300 Fund - an index fund that invests to the Citizens Index. The Citizens Index® has served as a key benchmark for socially responsible investing since 1994. Citizens Advisers has been offering separately managed accounts to institutional investors since the late 1990s. We currently offer growth equity (large, mid, small), value equity (large and small), fixed income and money market strategies.

Ms.  Judith Glidden

Judy Glidden was promoted to the social research team in June 2005. She is responsible for researching and evaluating the corporate governance, social and environmental performance of domestic and international companies for inclusion in Citizens? portfolios. She also is involved in shareholder activism and advocacy with a focus on human rights and animal welfare issues. Prior to her promotion Ms. Glidden served as executive assistant to the president of Citizens for over five years where she conducted pre-screening research and analysis for companies being considered for investment in selected portfolios. Before joining Citizens Ms. Glidden served as a freelance writer and reporter. In 1995 she received a New England Press Association ?Reporting on a Religious Issue? award for her article on women in the ministry. She also served as editor for the Beacon Community Newspapers, Acton, MA. Ms. Glidden earned her B.S. in journalism from Boston University.

Jon White is Chief Market Strategist for Citizens Advisers, portfolio manager for Citizens Core Growth strategy and co-manager of the small and mid-cap strategies. Mr. White has over 30 years of experience in investment management. Before joining Citizens in 2004, he was senior vice president and chief investment strategist at Banknorth Wealth Management, where he oversaw the investment process used to manage over $4 billion of client assets. Mr. White managed Banknorth's large cap core fund and its small/mid-cap core fund. Before his 10-year tenure at Banknorth, he worked at Connecticut Seed Ventures, a venture capital fund concentrating on early stage investments in technology companies. Prior to that, he served as a vice president at the Bank of New England and also at Travelers Investment Management Co. He began his investment career as an analyst with Scudder, Stevens & Clark and Massachusetts Financial Services. Mr. White earned his M.B.A. from the University of New Hampshire and his B.A. from Dartmouth College. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts and the Boston Security Analysts Society. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Sophia Collier is the founder, principal owner and chief executive officer of Citizens Advisers, Inc., the investment adviser to Citizens Funds ? one of America?s largest families of socially responsible mutual funds. Ms. Collier is portfolio manager for the Citizens Large Cap Value portfolio. She is also the creator of the Citizens Index®, an index of socially responsible large-capitalization companies, and manages the Index equity portfolio. Ms. Collier?s professional career spans more than 25 years in business management, including over a decade in investment management. She began her career as the 21-year old co-founder of American Natural Beverage Corporation, the manufacturer of SohoSoda, which she built to a $25 million enterprise and eventually sold to Joseph E. Seagram in 1989. In 1991, Ms. Collier acquired a majority interest in the Working Assets Management Company and went on to launch Citizens Advisers and Citizens Funds. Active in community and charitable work, Ms. Collier is a Trustee of the Global Citizens Circle, an organization whose mission is to foster constructive change by facilitating dialog among diverse individuals. Previously, she was an incorporator of the New Hampshire Charitable Fund and served as Treasurer of the Town of Durham, New Hampshire.

Mr.  Nathan Moser

Mr. Moser is responsible for providing fundamental analysis on the mid- and small-cap growth strategies. He is also the firm?s healthcare sector specialist. Prior to joining Citizens in 2002, Mr. Moser was an investment analyst at John Hancock Funds, where he provided fundamental research and investment recommendations for the John Hancock Health Sciences Fund. Prior to John Hancock, Mr. Moser worked at State Street Research & Management. A graduate of Babson College, Mr. Moser received a B.S. in investments and economics, and has attained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Mr.  J Michael Gallipo

Michael Gallipo is co-portfolio manager on Citizens? small-cap growth and mid-cap growth strategies. He joined Citizens in January 2005 after running over 200 general equity and fixed income portfolios for Banknorth?s Wealth Management group. While at Banknorth Mr. Gallipo also was co-head of institutional strategy and sat on the Mutual Fund Committee that created the mutual fund model for the bank. Prior to joining Banknorth, he served as portfolio manager for Monument Funds Group in Bethesda, MD where he ran a telecommunications portfolio. Mr. Gallipo earned his B.A. in Public Policy Studies from Duke University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, has successfully completed the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) program and is a member of the Vermont Security Analysts Society, Boston Security Analysts Society, CFA Institute and Market Technicians Association.

Ms.  Rajani Vaithinathan

Rajani Vaithinathan provides fundamental analysis with an emphasis on the consumer sector. Prior to joining Citizens in March 2004, Ms. Vaithinathan was an equity research analyst for Sequence Capital (formerly Prophecy Capital). She was an associate analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. Previously, Ms. Vaithinathan was an associate at strategy and technology consulting firm Booz Allen & Hamilton. She earned an M.B.A. in finance and business economics from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in biology from Harvard College.

David Loehwing is responsible for researching and evaluating the social and environmental corporate citizenship of domestic and international companies for inclusion in Citizens? portfolios. He also is involved in shareholder activism sponsored by Citizens, with issues ranging from human rights to corporate governance. Drawing on his experience prior to Citizens, Mr. Loehwing is responsible for proxy issues, which includes analyzing guidelines and votes for the company?s portfolios. Before joining Citizens in 2002, Mr. Loehwing was a senior account manager for the Investor Responsibility Research Center in Washington, DC, where he was responsible for analyzing and compiling information on corporate governance and social policies. He also conducted research to determine voting instructions for mutual fund companies and pension funds. Mr. Loehwing earned his B.A. in sociology, with a concentration in economics, from Bowdoin College.

Mr.  Joseph Craigen

Joe Craigen provides fundamental analysis on the mid- and large-cap growth strategies. He is also the firm?s technology sector specialist. Prior to joining Citizens in 2005, Mr. Craigen was an investment analyst and Vice President at Needham & Company, covering companies in the infrastructure software industry with a focus on information security and infrastructure management vendors. Mr. Craigen joined Needham & Company in March 2001 from Tucker Anthony, where he worked in the areas of software, semiconductor equipment and consulting. Mr. Craigen earned his B.A. in Economics from Harvard University, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Dr.  Vesela Veleva

Dr. Veleva is responsible for researching and evaluating the environmental, social and worker performance of both domestic and international companies for inclusion in Citizens' portfolios. She is also involved in research and activism aimed at raising public awareness about key issues around corporate social responsibility. Previously Dr. Veleva worked for Greiner Environmental, Inc. and Sustainable Measures, Inc. on various environmental and sustainability projects, such as researching environmental, health and safety issues; researching the environmental and social benefits of organic agriculture; working with local communities around the country on issues such as sustainable forestry, community revitalization and job creation. During her doctoral studies she developed a unique methodology to evaluate sustainability performance of companies. Dr. Veleva holds a doctorate in Pollution Prevention and Cleaner Production from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, a Master's degree in Pollution and Environmental Control from the University of Manchester, UK, and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria.

Kevin Schneider is responsible for trade execution for all funds and investment portfolios. Kevin joined Citizens in 2000 as director of investment operations. In that role, he oversaw the trading and reconciling of various equity funds, in addition to all separately managed accounts. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Schneider was vice president in asset management at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, where he was responsible for the financial integrity of over 6,000 portfolios valued at approximately $13 billion. Mr. Schneider was also selected to integrate the company?s London office with its New York operations, which included formulating and implementing a plan to convert over 1,000 off shore and European portfolios to the company?s New York portfolio system. Before being promoted to these positions, he was a portfolio administrator and performance analyst. Mr. Schneider earned his B.S. from Syracuse University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Robert Behan is responsible for institutional business development, product management, client service, as well as consultant relations. He brings over 17 years of experience in the institutional investment management field. Prior to joining Citizens in 2003, Mr. Behan served as vice president, institutional asset management for Strong Capital Management, where he established and grew relationships with retirement plan sponsors, investment consultants, and registered investment advisers. Prior to that, he was vice president, national accounts for CIGNA Retirement & Investment Services. At CIGNA, he was a member of the investment products committee, which was responsible for $20 billion in sub-advisory relationships. He was also a pension director at ManuLife Financial. Mr. Behan earned his B.A. in economics from The Maxwell School of Citizenship at Syracuse University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
