Conestoga Capital Advisors History

Based in Radnor, PA, Conestoga Capital Advisors, LLC is an independent registered investment advisory firm specializing in small cap portfolio management. The firm officially began its operation on July 7, 2001. Conestoga Capital Advisors was founded by its four managing partners , William C. Martindale, Jr., W. Christopher Maxwell, Robert Mitchell and Duane D'Orazio. Raymond P. Scott, III became the fifth managing partner in January of 2004. The firm is 100 percent employee-owned. Conestoga Capital Advisors was initially formed through a lift-out of certain assets of Martindale Andres & Co. In late 2000, Bill Martindale and Bob Mitchell negotiated a deal with M&T Bank seeking to acquire certain customer relationships from M&T's investment advisory subsidiary, Martindale Andres & Co. By September 30, 2005, managed assets had grown to approximately $208 million. The organization's growth is the result of new accounts, the continued migration of Martindale Andres & Co. accounts from M&T to Conestoga Capital Advisors, and the integration of accounts brought from Gratitude Investment Advisors, a small registered investment advisory firm run by Chris Maxwell in Rockhall, MD. In October 2002, the firm launched the Conestoga Small Cap Fund for investors with less than the $1,000,000 separate account minimum.
